The plan

Day 1 — Tralee to Camp (18 km, Stage 1)

  • Start in Tralee town centre. Walk west to Camp via the foothills of the Slieve Mish mountains.
  • Stay: Camp village — Ashe's Pub does rooms and dinner.

Day 2 — Camp to Anascaul via Inch Beach (16 km)

  • The finest beach stage on the Dingle Way. Descend from Camp to Inch Beach, walk the length of the beach (listen to the Inch Beach audio tour), then climb inland to Anascaul.
  • Stay: Anascaul — the South Pole Inn is the famous choice, named after the Antarctic explorer Tom Crean who lived in the village.

Day 3 — Anascaul to Dingle (12 km)

  • Shorter stage. Mostly road walking. Arrive in Dingle town for lunch.
  • Afternoon in Dingle: Dingle Oceanworld, a harbour stroll, maybe a boat trip.
  • Stay: Dingle town. Dinner at Out of the Blue — seafood-only, no reservations, worth the wait.

Day 4 — Slea Head walk & home

  • Before driving home: the Slea Head walking loop — 8 km from Dunquin to Clogher Beach, the most dramatic coastal walk in Ireland.
  • Lunch at the Blasket Centre café. Home.
